History

Soar Valley Timber is one of the UK’s leading independent timber merchants. We were established in 1995 by Directors John Badham and Neil Ashdown, who opened our branch in Sileby, situated in between the University town of Loughborough and the busy city of Leicester.

Sileby has seen many changes over the years. More recently we have settled on a successful formula led by Managing Director, John Badham, Commercial Director, Steve Hepworth and Operations Director Stewart Small. In July 2005 we expanded on our current site which we quickly backed up with an expansion of our Trade Counter and Collection Centre, and The Woodshop was born.

In 1999 a 2nd branch in Stamford, Lincolnshire was opened by Andrew Jones. Andrew was soon followed by Phil Wade and together the two of them have steadily grown the businesses trade and reputation. 2008 has seen an ambitious expansion project undertaken at Stamford, where as well as concreting and a general tidying and better organisation of the yard, we have converted a storage barn in to a purpose built Trade Counter and Collection Centre. This will be open for business in May 2008.

2008 has also seen expansion and the introduction of a 3rd branch in Melton Mowbray trading as The Lumber Store. The Lumber Store is managed by Alan Lambert and is already showing great promise and developing a good customer base in this popular market town.
